I just moved to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project, where I'm sharing a house with a few friends of mine. Among other things, it's the first time I've lived in a house with a dog (Otis). He's a pretty decent dog, so I take him on walks in the woods occasionally. It's good exercise for both of us, and gets some of his excess energy worked off. Here's some pictures of Otis and the woods we walk in.
Here are some Musings on the nature of freedom. This is especially noteworthy considering the recent spate of encroachments on civil liberties and personal freedoms, which the government has attempted to justify in the interest of 'safety' following the 9/11 attacks.
For those of you who came to see the Haloween Pictures; just follow the link.
For those of you who wonder what I look like, have a look at my former appearance, and the new, revised me. Yes, I finally got my hair cut short after 13 years.
Among my hobbies, are computers and target shooting. Upon a couple of occasions, I've decided to combine the two. Here is one session of ballistic destruction, captured on camera. :)
In 2003 I took a pistol-shooting course at Gunsite Academy, and kept a sort of journal.
I just bought a World-War-I-era Austro-Hungarian M1895 rifle, and am cleaning it up and restoring the finish.
Once a long time ago, I and a friend built a small ballista for medeval weapons combat in the SCA. It didn't work very well, but we had fun with it. I meant to rebuild it for more power, but never quite got around to it. If you want to see a ballista done correctly go to my friend Kurt Suleski's ballista construction page. He spent years working on that project, and if you knew Kurt, you'd know just how obsessively hard he works. It would take any other man twice as long to do a job half as well.
For those of you who wonder what my desk looks like (or at least, used to look like), after considering the screenshots below, wonder no more.
